    2022 General Assembly Status Update:

We wanted to give you a quick update on where the General Assembly stands on finalizing the state budget -- including a line item that would add significant funding to a grant program for filmmakers.  As of right now, members of the House and Senate have formed a conference committee to reconcile the differences between their two versions of the budget. The Senate's version includes a $7 million increase to the Governor's Motion Picture Opportunity Fund. The House version does not include this amendment.

That's why we need you to send a quick note to the members of the conference committee to tell them how this increase in funds would help Virginia's film and television industry.

The Budget Conferees include the following Assembly members:

Senators: Saslaw, Norment, Hanger, Lucas, Newman, Barker, Locke; and

Delegates: Austin, Bloxom, Brewer, Torian, and Sickles

Consider emailing them and calling their offices to encourage support of the film incentives. Here are their email addresses:

Continue asking your colleagues, friends, businesses, and supporters of film in Virginia to write their Senators and Delegates. Use our information here to help write letters: attached communication

If you haven’t yet - write your own Delegate and Senator to let them know you support the Budget Item113 (you can type in your address and find their information at this link), AND to the list below, which includes the people deciding how to marry the two versions of the budget.
